Career: Jim had a long career in internal medicine in the Atlanta area, retiring in 2009, including as a member of the clinical faculty at Emory School of Medicine.
Family: Jim and wife Mary Martin Van Buren (’56) have five children, seven grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. Son Jimmy was Cornell Engineering ’81, and son David was Cornell Hotel ’83. David died in 2024 of a stroke.
Hobbies and Personal Interests: Reading, current events, and golf. Jim was inducted into the Cornell Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006, recognizing his time on the Big Red football team in the 1950s.
One Thing You Miss Most about Cornell or Sigma Nu: My fraternity brothers, many of whom have already passed on.
